As a painter and sculptor, who lives in a rural area, I love the preserved farmland around me. People congregate in cities for it’s life but life begins on the farm. We are all dependant on the farmer and the farmland and I see that dependency everyday. I love the peace and quiet, the animals, crops, sunrises and sunsets.
Even in this tranquil place the overstimulation of technology and the demands of everyday life affects us. My work retaliates against the noise. When someone looks at my painting I want them to go to a place where life is slower and calmer. I want their eyes to rest a moment and their lungs to take a breath. I want them to feel that all is right with the world despite life’s uncertainties.
